John is a graduate of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating in 2011.
Before John became a Lighting Designer, he was on the road for 10 years assisting and re-creating other Lighting Designer’s work around the world taking him to places such as Shanghai, Paris, Milan, and Oslo to name but a few!

The UK Tours of ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ (Everyman, Cheltenham & Barn, Cirencester), ‘Speakeasy’ (Southpaw Dance), and ‘Bobby Robson Saved My Life’ (Ion Productions).
John has close collaborations with The Customs House in South Shields, productions including ‘The Wasp’, ‘Dolly Mixtures the Musical’, ‘My Uncle Freddie’ amongst many other,s and this year will be his 4th Pantomime with ‘Robin Hood’
Other close relationships with venues such as Alphabetti, an original writing space, and productions have included ‘Brotherhood’ & ‘Tree’ and since 2019, has lit numerous production’s as a visiting Lighting Designer at Guildford School of Acting including UK’s first licensed production of Boublil and Schonberg’s ‘The Pirate Queen’ and ‘Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn’
John is a proud member of the ALPD & Equity
